BIRN SHAW & CO
Where my journey began, cutting my teeth (plus a few fingers) and learning all about the art of typography and design.
My first five years here were in the role of Assistant Typesetter; creating adverts and producing artwork for a wide range of firms and industries.
After showing some potential with design, it was suggested that I move into an Art Director role. I spent six years designing brochures, directing photoshoots and winning the odd award for my efforts.
BEYOND THE 9-5
Being a designer doesn't stop when I leave the office at the end of the day, it's a constant activity in my life – so when I'm not creating for the 9-5, I'm usually creating in my spare time.
HEAD OF PRODUCTION | ART DIRECTOR
Then, in 2005, I discovered a way to clone myself so that I could effectively take on two roles; as head of production where I create all artwork that leaves the agency, as well as online media and high-end pitch documents/presentations (often to very tight deadlines) and as an art director, creating brochures, websites, brand guidelines, diversity event materials, icons, logos and infographics.
